Question of the Month Cruise-In Calendar
Simonton Lake Drive-In, Elkhart (Opens March 12)
As soon as you hear of a cruise-in being scheduled, let me know. I’ll list every one I hear about.
Apparently last month’s question was a dud; let’s see if this one gets any better response:
Let me know either by e-mailing me at art51059@aol.com or bring your answers to the meeting. I’ll share the answers with you next month
By Bob and Pat Goeller
A small group of our members: Alan and Lisa Ippolito, Carl Kindig, Neal Lewis, Phil Nicodemus, Dave Yoder and us made the trip to the Chicago Auto Show. We had everything planned. We parked in the dollar lot at the airport. (Thanks for the info, Brad!) We arrived at the South Shore ticket office to find a long line with most of the people going to the show. Leaving South Bend on time we had planned to meet with Alan and Lisa at East Chicago. It was quite interesting to find that Alan was looking for us on the train and couldn’t find us and vice versa. We later found that we were on two separate trains.
We did meet with them at McCormick Place and had a good day viewing all the latest designs and concept cars. Of course, the Ford display was great Alan Ippolito checking out the interior of a 2010 and interactive. There were yea(s) and nay(s) on Mustang the 2010 Mustang design.

I did make the mistake of asking a Ford associate a question about the Focus and the conversation quickly changed to Mustangs and our club. A few minutes later a production company who was filming the 2010 Mustang display was interviewing Bob and me. They would then send the tapes to Ford. Publicity for our club – Yea!
Other than losing several members in the crowd at times we did have an interesting time getting home. We literally left Carl standing at the McCormick train stop. He had to meet with his son who was at another section of McCormick Place looking for him. They did finally meet with each

other and Carl made it home o.k. Our excitement was on the train home for the rest of us. I thought for sure Dave was playing a joke on us. He told us he heard the conductor tell someone that people going to South Bend had to get off the train at Dunes Park and take another train. Sure enough he wasn’t joking around this time! We had to get off and wait for another train to take us home. We never have a boring trip with our club. All in all it was a good show with great friends!!

My father & his father were Ford people. So I grew up around Fords and I helped my father restore and sell parts. They are easy to work on and a nice vehicle to work on…
Early Mustang…The first one out. What we call the 1964 1/2 Mustang. (Which the Ford Motor Company NEVER put out!) Look on the title. Sure they were put out in 1964, but they weren't on sale until April.
Don't really know…
Watching people faces, just looking at your MUSTANG while you are driving it down the road! Meeting other Mustang people that have same vehicle as you do. Knowing that this DREAM CAR isn't dead!
We keep the dream alive!

I have been a car enthusiast forever... Love sports cars and Mustangs had back seating for our children as they were growing up. Being an artist how could you not like the Mustang body styling?
Any Chip Foose designed Mustang...
A Mustang custom that I would do myself.
My son Rory being antagonized by a Camaro that wanted to race him... My son didn't take him on. When the Camaro floored it, the car went sideways and flipped. My son not only won by not racing but saved the guys life by pulling him out of his car.... True story. My son was 17 years old and driving my 2003 - 550 HP Cobra. If it would have been me, I would have never seen the Camaro flip because I would have been too far ahead of him.
My wife and I have been car enthusiasts since we were married in 1973. I have had show cars and have restored cars. We both had customized VW's before we got married and the love for automobiles has never diminished.
Next month… Blair and Sharri Knaak, Ruben and Idella Chupp
One is a 5.0 and has been rebuilt and is ready to be bolted in. I also have the fuel injection to go with it for $1,000 or best offer.
The second engine is the 3.8 from the 1983 Mustang. It has been totally rebuilt and has only 1,000 miles on it.

Dust off those old bowling shoes and balls and head on down to Country Club Lanes at 1910 Cassopolis St. in Elkhart. Saturday, March 28 is the day and 1:00 PM is the time. We haven't been bowling in a couple of years, at least I haven't, and so it should be comical to say the least! No charge to come out and watch for you coach potatoes. I'll send around a sign up sheet at the next meeting. Plan on going out for pizza afterwards as we have done in the past. Hope you can make it. Questions call Brad at 574-674-4321 or cell at 574-612-5060.
I hope you’re enjoying the new features that have been added to the newsletter. I’ve had a few comments, but for the most part it’s been pretty quiet. If you have any suggestions for things you’d like to see in the newsletter, or changes you think should be made, please let me know. As Becky would confirm, my mind reading skills are not very good.
I’m still looking for ‘Pony of the Month’ and ‘My First Mustang’ stories, as well as more of your profiles. I have profiles to cover the next couple of months, but there are no car stories in the pipeline at all right now. Please, don’t make me beg! I’d also like to see any other news from you. Let’s hear about births, weddings, job changes, new cars; anything you feel like sharing. I know that right now it can seem like there is no good news, but that makes it all the more important to share. This also includes the low points. If you or a family member are laid up for any reason, or have a loss in the family, let us know. There are times when you really can’t have enough support from your friends.
As we get into the spring and summer I’ll be asking people to do reports on club events. At the same time, even if no one asks you, please feel free to report on any event you attend. I think it would be great to have different viewpoints of an event, since everyone sees things differently and has different experiences while at an event.
On a totally different subject, do any of you have a marketing background? I’ve been working on some material to help us ‘sell’ the club to potential sponsors, and I could use some help. If you’re willing, please let me know.
Have a good month...

What can happen to a Mustang…

Thankfully, we haven’t been asked to judge any of these ‘modified’ Mustangs!
